Armada Community Assists GCX 2024 Production
Students and staff worked in talent management, tournament organization, and more during the two-day gaming community expo.

The Full Sail Armada community recently celebrated gaming and content creators, working as supporting staff during the GCX 2024 convention held at Universal Studios Florida. Armada students gained hands-on experience in event production, working across several areas of the two-day community expo.
Having worked with the teams at Rare Drop and GCX on several other productions including the pre-taping of their annual charity stream last year, Full Sail Armada was happy to lend support once again.
Students and grads who volunteered to work the event - which benefitted St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – displayed their industry knowledge and professionalism working in roles in stage and talent management, tournament organization, and more for both GCX and esports tournament organizers Esports Foundry.
“Our students helped facilitate memorable interactions between fans and their favorite content creators, ensured smooth operations throughout the event, and were able to showcase their skills in event coordination and esports management,” shares Full Sail Director of Esports Growth & Development Bennett Newsome.
During the event, content creators, fans, gamers, and esports enthusiasts from a variety of online communities interacted over a weekend of panels, cosplay, and competitive gaming, while Armada students worked alongside event staff to keep the expo running smoothly.
“Volunteering at events like GCX offers our students invaluable hands-on experience in a live, dynamic environment. It allows them to hone their skills, learn the intricacies of the industry, and build meaningful connections with professionals. These opportunities are essential for their growth and development, giving them a competitive edge as they pursue careers in gaming, events, and production.”
